Shimazu Tsunahisa was the eldest son of [[Shimazu Mitsuhisa]],<ref>Stone marker at gravesite.</ref> and held the [[court rank]] of Lower Junior Fourth Rank. He was named Chamberlain (侍従, ''jijû'') in [[1651]].
