''Yohito'' were ''[[magiri]]'' (district) administrators in the [[Amami Islands]], under both the [[Ryukyu Kingdom|Ryûkyû Kingdom]] (prior to [[1609]]), and under [[Satsuma han]] rule (after 1609).
Though initially operating under ''ôoya'' (village headmen), the ''yohito'' themselves became the top-level officials in each ''magiri'' after the position of ''ôoya'' was eliminated in [[1623]].
