Yamashiro Seichû was an Okinawan poet, physician, and writer, known in particular as one of the most prominent and influential Okinawan poets of the early 20th century.
Born in [[Naha]] in [[1884]], he studied under [[Yosano Tekkan]]<!--与謝野鉄幹--> and [[Yosano Akiko]]<!--与謝野晶子-->, and was close friends with [[Ishikawa Takuboku]]. He is considered one of the three chief Okinawan writers of his time, alongside [[Sho Jun (1873-1945)|Shô Jun]] and [[Jahana Unseki]].
