Hanshan Deqing was a prominent Buddhist monk of the late [[Ming Dynasty]], and is considered a late [[Zen|Chan]] patriarch.
He is known for devoting four years to copying a [[sutra]] in his own blood, mixed with gold, and invoking the name of [[Amida|Amitabha]] after completing each word.
