Saigô Kichijirô was one of Saigô Takamori's younger brothers.

He died in late 1868 of wounds suffered in the battle of Igarashi in Niigata prefecture earlier that year, and was buried at Nanrin-ji in Kagoshima; his was one of 23 graves later moved to a separate site called the Saigô Family Cemetery, where they remain today.[1]

His children included Saigô Yûkasa and Saigô Mitsu. Mitsu married a son of Adachi Baikei
