Inoue Kiyonao

Inoue Kiyonao was a Tokugawa shogunate official who served as Shimoda bugyô from 1855 to 1859. He played a central role in treaty negotiations with US consul general Townsend Harris,[1] and held the concurrent position of Gaikoku bugyô (Foreign Affairs Magistrate) beginning in 1858, before being reassigned in 1859 to the position of Kobushin bugyô (Small Public Works Magistrate).[2] He was then reassigned to the position of Kyoto machi bugyô later that same year.[3]
