Emperor Yozei

Emperor Yôzei succeeded his father Emperor Seiwa in 876, at the age of nine, upon Seiwa's retirement. Yôzei's maternal grandfather was Fujiwara no Nagara, but his uncle Fujiwara no Mototsune served as sesshô (regent) for him.

Yôzei abdicated in favor of a distant relative in 884, who then took the throne as Emperor Kôkô.
