Motoichi, also known as Yôichi, was the Deputy Governor of Settsu province under the Hosokawa. He rebelled and went to war against the kanrei, Hosokawa Masamoto, in 1504 in an attempt to replace him with his adopted son Hosokawa Sumitomo, the shugô of Settsu province. Motoichi's rebellion was put down in a matter of weeks. He was captured and committed suicide.
