Mori Tetsuzan was a nephew of Mori Sosen, and prominent painter of the Maruyama-Shijô school of painting.

He studied under Maruyama Ôkyo himself in Kyoto, and is counted as one of Ôkyo's top ten disciples. He then moved to Edo, and is credited with introducing the Maruyama style to the Edo area.
