Jigen Ryu is known as Satsuma's local Kenjutsu. One of the famous followers of this style was Saigo Takamori (1827-1877) who lead a revolt on the island of Kyushu against a conscription decree issued by the emperor Meiji. This Ryu has unique concept "You must kill the enemy with the first tachi."
