The Baghatur was a Western-style oared vessel gifted to the Tokugawa shogunate by Tokugawa Yoshiatsu, lord of Mito han, on 1853/8/14.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; refs with no name must have content
The name of the ship derives from a Mongol term meaning roughly "hero" or "valiant warrior."
