Timeline of 1203
- 1203/7/24 Unkei and Kaikei, along with two other master sculptors and sixteen assistants, begin work on the Niô Guardians for Tôdaiji's Nandaimon.
- 1203/10/3 The Tôdai-ji Niô Guardians are completed.
- 1203/11/30 A dedication ceremony for the rebuilt Tôdaiji is held, with Emperor Go-Toba in attendance.

- The Hôjô clan attacks the mansions of the Hiki clan, killing many members of the clan, and effectively eliminating them as a power.
- Hôjô Tokimasa becomes shikken.
- Minamoto no Yoriie steps down as shogun and is succeeded by Minamoto no Sanetomo.
