Naitô Konan, or Naitô Torajirô, was a scholar of Chinese history.

His last work, Chûgoku kinseishi, was compiled posthumously by his son Naitô Kenkichi from notes taken by his students in classes and lectures. This was published in 1947. English-language reviews of the book may have been the first to use the term "early modern" to describe a period of East Asian history.[1]
