• 1902/1 Hakkôda Mountains Incident - Two-hundred ten soldiers of the 5th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion are caught in a blizzard in the mountains near Aomori city. Only eleven survive.

• A motion picture, "The Spanish-American War," is shown in Okinawa for the first time.
