Konkai Kômyô-ji is the Jôdo school buddhism temple, located in Sakyô ward Kyoto city was founded by Hônen. One of the chief temple of the Jôdo school.

The main hall Miei-dô was burnt down in 1934 and reconstructed in 1944.

Bakumatsu

Konkai Kômyô-ji was the headquater of Kyoto Shugo Shoku in Bakumatsu. More than 1000 Aizu han samurai stationed in the temple. There is a grave site of the Aizu samurai who died in Kinmon Rebellion and the Battle of Toba-Fushimi.
