Sueyoshi Bakumonto

Sueyoshi Bakumontô was an early 20th century journalist who worked for the Ryukyu Shimpo. He is notable as the writer whose article on the planned demolition of the Main Hall of Shuri castle in 1924 caught the attention of Kamakura Yoshitarô and Itô Chûta and led to the Hall being saved.[1]
Bakumontô also wrote art reviews; he is known to have been critical of some Okinawa-based Japanese artists such as Yamaguchi Zuiu, who Bakumontô felt misrepresented Okinawa.[2]
