A student of [[Tani Buncho|Tani Bunchô]], he accompanied Bunchô to [[Kamigata]] to compile the pictorial catalog ''[[Shuko jisshu|Shûko jisshu]]'', at the orders of [[Matsudaira Sadanobu]].
