Tejima Seiichi was curator at the [[Tokyo Educational Museum]] in the 1880s. After meeting [[Edward Sylvester Morse]], Tejima helped assemble in [[1886]] a collection of 36 Okinawan artifacts to donate to Boston museums, filling a gap in Morse's own collection. The following year, he played a role in the donation by Japan's [[Ministry of Education]] of several dozen Japanese & Okinawan artifacts to the [[Smithsonian Institution]].
