Ryumonji castle

  • Japanese: 龍門寺城 (Ryuumonji-jou)

Ryûmonji castle was a fortress used by the armies of Oda Nobunaga as a base in their 1575 assault on Echizen province. A flatland castle located a short distance to the south of Fuchû castle, some of the low stone walls of Ryûmonji survive today, along with several temple buildings associated with the fortress.

After the defeat of both the Asakura clan, which had previously controlled the area, and the Ikkô-ikki, Nobunaga assigned Ryûmonji to Fuwa Mitsuharu.
