Hisatora governed Ei district in Satsuma province and by 1584 was serving as a counselor to Shimazu Yoshihisa. A veteran of many engagements (including Takabaru-1576, Mimigawa-1578, and Minamata-1581), and wounded at the Battle of Okitanawate (1584), Hisatora was considered a great soldier.
