Gerhardus Fabius

Gerhardus Fabius was a Dutch naval captain who traveled to Japan several times captaining different ships. He first arrived in Japan in 1854 as captain of the warship Soembing, which was later gifted to the Tokugawa shogunate and renamed the Kanko Maru. Fabius then returned to Japan in 1856 as captain of the warship Medusa.
