  • Chinese/Japanese: 和卿 (Chén Héqīng / Chin Wakei, Chin Nakei)

Chén Héqīng, often known in Japanese as Chin Nakei or Chin Wakei, was a Chinese merchant who played a role in the rebuilding of Tôdaiji following its destruction in the Genpei War.

Chén reportedly believed that Shogun Minamoto no Sanetomo was the reincarnation of a famous Chinese Buddhist priest, and helped Sanetomo to commission the construction of a ship to take Sanetomo to China. Ultimately, the ship proved to not be seaworthy, and Sanetomo never ended up traveling to China.
