The Mariner was a British ship which visited Ryûkyû and Edo in 1849.

The Mariner first arrived in Naha, where its Captain Matheson received letters from both the resident missionary Bernard Bettelheim asking for Parliament's help, and from the Ryukyuan government asking that the Mariner take the troublesome missionary away.

The ship later made its way to Edo Bay, where its crew conducted some surveys in defiance of Tokugawa opposition, and then departed.
