- Shunbajunki is succeeded as King of Chûzan by Gihon.
- Tankai creates a printed copy of the Chinese "Bodhisattva Precepts in the Sutra of Brahma's Net" which he brought back from China in 1244. This 1248 print is still extant today, and is possibly the only extant copy of the no longer extant Chinese original.
