Miima udun was the Shuri residence of Bainan, the daughter of Shô Ikô, and the second to hold the position of kikoe-ôgimi (high priestess). She thus came to be known, herself, as Miima kikoe ôgimi ganashi.
A narrow sidestreet neighboring the mansion came to be known as Miima kubiri, a placename which still exists, from the word kubiri meaning a narrow, squeezed, space. The placename Miima kubiri also appears in the Omoro sôshi.
