Yi Ye

Yi Ye was a Joseon military official who led official visits to Tsushima on several occasions in the early-to-mid 15th century.

Yi was assigned to travel to Tsushima in 1418 as an investigation official (K: kyŏng ch’agwan), and to convey King Taejong's condolences on the death earlier that year of Sô Sadashige, governor of Tsushima. At that time, he was a senior fifth rank military officer in the Five Military Commands (五衛, K: Owi), with the title of Sajik 司直.

In 1443, Yi was dispatched to Tsushima again, this time in response to a Japanese attack on a Korean government vessel in the 6th month of that year. By this time, Yi had risen to the Senior Third Grade in court rank, and the position of fifth minister in the Office of Minister-without-Portfolio (K. Chungch’uwŏn ch’ŏmjisa).
