Kashihara Shrine is a Shinto shrine in the city of Kashihara, in Nara prefecture. It was established in 1890, on the 2,550th anniversary of Emperor Jimmu supposedly taking the throne in 660 BCE.
Fifty years after its establishment, in 1940, on the 2600th anniversary of the supposed founding of the Imperial nation, Kashihara Shrine was the site of various official national festivities. Video of these events was lost for many years, but was rediscovered and restored by the Asahi Newspaper Company, among others, in late 2013.
