George Ernest Morrison was an Australian reporter for the London Times, and political advisor to the government of the Republic of China. He is known as well for his book collection, which is held today in the Tôyô Bunko in Tokyo.
While in China, Morrison collected some 45,000 books about Chinese topics. These were obtained by Iwasaki Hisaya, third head of the Mitsubishi Corporation, who established the Tôyô Bunko library and archives in 1924 with Morrison's collection as the core.
