I'm a bit confused about the date footnote - where does the "May 12" come in? Is that western, eastern, or what? There are 2 other dates given, but it isn't clear what it what. --[[User:Shogun|Kitsuno]] 13:32, 2 October 2006 (PDT) | I'm a bit confused about the date footnote - where does the "May 12" come in? ::Hm. And on the newly revised footnote, I am curious if it is unknown to scholarship whether he was using Gregorian or Julian, or if it is simply unknown to us here at S-A based on the sources we've looked at. Date & Footnote Question
I'm a bit confused about the date footnote - where does the "May 12" come in? Is that western, eastern, or what? There are 2 other dates given, but it isn't clear what it what. --Kitsuno 13:32, 2 October 2006 (PDT)
- Hm. And on the newly revised footnote, I am curious if it is unknown to scholarship whether he was using Gregorian or Julian, or if it is simply unknown to us here at S-A based on the sources we've looked at. LordAmeth 03:38, 11 July 2007 (PDT)
- It is not clear in the source I used for the statement-- an excerpt in They Came to Japan from a letter Adams wrote his wife. Did you read Samurai William? He might discuss the date problem there since presumably the date problem would have come up handing the materials.
- If you read it, you could add it to the page as "Other Reading," or, better still, write some more and add the book as a source.--Bethetsu 18:33, 11 July 2007 (PDT)
