- Japanese: 白保竿根田原洞穴遺跡 (Shiraho-Saonetabaru dōketsu iseki)
The Shiraho-Saonetabaru Cave Site is an archaeological site on Ishigaki Island where a large number of Paleolithic human remains were found. A number of partial skeletons have been dated to roughly 20,000-27,000 years ago, while other bone fragments found in the site have been dated to roughly 10,000-20,000 years ago. Experts suggest it was likely a graveyard.
