Hashimoto Sanai was a Fukui han court physician who contributed to the translation of Western materials in the mid-1850s.[1]
In 1856, he was appointed organizer of the Fukui domain school Meidôkan, and led classes for domain retainers' children in his spare time.[2]
He was executed in 1859.
