  • Japanese: ルウンペ (ruunpe)

Ruunpe are a type of traditional Ainu garment, distinguished by their intricate woven patterns.

The Ainu word ruunpe refers to "things that have a path." This name for the garment derives from the designs clustered around the neck and other openings, which are said to help guard against evil spirits entering the robe. Different Ainu communities maintain different traditional patterns.
