  • Chinese: (Lǐ Yǔ)

Lǐ Yǔ was a Chinese merchant based in Hakata who enjoyed ties with several notable kenmon, including Tôdai-ji.

In 1196, he traveled to Ningbo to obtain a complete copy of the Buddhist canon to bring back to Tôdai-ji. In return for his service, he was granted land in Chikuzen province.
