Chen Yi was a Qing official and member of the 1663 Qing investiture mission to the Ryûkyû Kingdom. He is credited with introducing Qing music to the Ryûkyûan court, devoting two months in 1663 to teaching the Crown Prince, the king's son-in-law, and a son of one of the Sanshikan, a number of pieces on the zheng.
