- 1902/1 Hakkôda Mountains Incident - Two-hundred ten soldiers of the 5th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion are caught in a blizzard in the mountains near Aomori city. Only eleven survive.
- 1902/1/30 The Anglo-Japanese Alliance is entered into. It lasts until 1922.
