Kanô Yûsen was a painter of the Kanô school.

He taught Hokusai for a time.

In 1815, Yûsen was falsely accused by the shogunate of having skimped on the amount of gold used for the ground of the sliding screen or folding screen paintings they had commissioned, and the resulting stress or persecution of shogunal accusations led Yûsen to commit suicide.
