Masuda Eitarô was the leader of a group of over eighty men from Nakatsu in [[Oita prefecture|Ôita prefecture]] who fought in the [[Satsuma Rebellion]]. Of that group, 22 died in battle, with Masuda himself being killed at age 28 in the battle of Komekura (in [[Kagoshima]] City) on Sept 4, [[1877]].
