- An official envoy from Korea is kidnapped in the Seto Inland Sea on his way back from the capital.
- King Sejong introduces the Korean phonetic alphabet Hangeul.
- The number of ships sent by Tsushima annually to Korea is increased from the previously standard twenty-five to fifty by the Kakitsu Treaty (K: Gyehae Treaty).
