Sôreki was a Ryukyuan scholar-aristocrat known for his prodigious calligraphy abilities.

He served as a member of tribute missions to China on several occasions, as well as on at least one Ryukyuan mission to Edo, that undertaken in 1714 in honor of King Shô Kei.

He later changed his name from Sôreki to Sôshin.
