- 986/6/23 Emperor Kazan takes holy orders; Emperor Ichijô ascends to the throne.
- 986/6/24 Fujiwara no Kaneie becomes head of the Fujiwara clan, and is appointed sesshô.
- 986/7/5 Fujiwara no Senshi, mother of Emperor Ichijô, becomes Empress Dowager.
