Negishi had a private school before joinning the Rôshigumi.
He was one of 22 members who decided to stay in Kyoto but soon deserted and returned to Edo.
He worked for the Shinchôgumi for a while.
In his SonnôTôbaku-inspired book "Toketsuron" , he described Kondô Isami negatively.
