Tôshô-ji was the family temple of the [[Hojo clan|Hôjô clan]] in [[Kamakura]].

It was established in the early 14th century by [[Hojo Takatoki|Hôjô Takatoki]], but was destroyed in the [[1333]] [[siege of Kamakura]].

The temple was rebuilt soon afterwards, and is said to have become third among the top ten temples in the [[Kanto|Kantô]]. But a new temple, [[Hokai-ji|Hôkai-ji]], was built to be the Hôjô clan's family temple. Sometime in the [[Sengoku period]], the rebuilt Tôshô-ji was abandoned and allowed to fall into ruin. The site is today fenced off, as a historical/archaeological site.
