The ''Okinawa Times'' is one of the two most prominent newspapers published in [[Okinawa prefecture]], alongside the older ''[[Ryukyu Shimpo|Ryûkyû Shimpô]]''.
The ''Times'' was founded in 1948 by [[Toyohira Ryoken|Toyohira Ryôken]], among others. The first issue was published on July 1, 1948. Toyohira later went on to serve for a period as president of the company.
