Wooden statue of Kichijôten, c. 900s-1000s, on display at the British Museum
  • Japanese: 吉祥天 (kichijouten)

Kichijôten is a Japanese Buddhist deity, usually depicted in the form of a Chinese noblewoman. Developing out of Chinese and Korean versions of an Indian deity, she was a particularly popular object of worship in the Nara period, and is particularly associated with good harvests, and New Year's prayers for good fortune in general.
