He later served as ''[[Osaka]] [[machi-bugyo|machi-bugyô]]'', and as ''[[gaikoku bugyo|gaikoku bugyô]]'' (Foreign Affairs Magistrate), before killing himself in [[1868]] as the [[Tokugawa shogunate]] fell.
