The son of [[Ijuin Tadakimi]], he fought alongside [[Shimazu Tadayoshi]] and [[Shimazu Takahisa]] in battles for the Shimazu clan succession. Tadaaki took part in the [[1539]] [[battle of Murasakibaru]], as well as battles against the [[Honda clan|Honda]] and [[Ichiki clan]]s, and aided [[Shimazu Yoshihisa]] in the [[1554]] [[siege of Iwatsurugi]].
