Hatoyama Kazuo was a Meiji period member of the House of Representatives (Shûgiin) and Speaker of the House.

He is considered the patriarch of the Hatoyama "dynasty" of modern politicians. His son Hatoyama Ichirô, grandson Hatoyama Iichirô, and great-grandsons Hatoyama Kunio and Hatoyama Yukio all served as cabinet ministers or prime ministers.
