Chinsuko are a style of cookies distinctive to Okinawa prefecture. One of roughly one hundred types of Ryukyuan sweets which developed out of the combination of Ryûkyû's native sugar production and Chinese cultural influence, chinsuko were a popular treat eaten within the Ryûkyû royal court, and are today a well-known sweet associated with Okinawa, and a popular tourist souvenir.
