  • Japanese: 琉球赤翡翠 (Ryûkyû shôbin)

The Ryûkyû akashôbin, sometimes called the ruddy kingfisher in English, is a distinctive bird native to the Ryukyu Islands.

The akashôbin features in a number of paintings by Amami Ôshima-based Nihonga painter Tanaka Isson.
