Yorichika was a minor daimyô in [[Shinano province|Shinano]] and held [[Fukuyo castle]] in that province's Ina district. Yorichika allied with the [[Takato clan|Takato]] to oppose the advance of [[Takeda Shingen]], but when his castle was attacked in July [[1545]] he submitted. As part of the terms of his surrender, he sent his younger brother [[Fujizawa Gonjiro|Gonjirô]] as a hostage.
